Dueling Pianos at the Big Bang Bar

Jeff at the Big Bang, Nashville Tennessee

Hey there Dear Listeners - Received an interesting email from a Dave Delaney the other day.

Turns out Dave, the New Media Manger at Emma, (an extremely hip looking local email marketing company that I’ve heard several people mention around town), had listened to the last show and, being a fan of the Littlest Hobo and also a Podcaster himself, asked if I wanted to meet up.

Now, I have to be honest with you, (the LTA ‘Commitment to Reality’ and all that), I really am taken aback by the friendliness of this town. I’ve never experienced such warmth and hospitality from any of the myriad places I’ve been, (this is not to detract from Belfast of course - though as we know there were some problems there).

Dave suggested we meet up at the ‘The Big Bang Bar’ - home of the Dueling Pianos! I was excited ’cause as anybody who knows me well will tell you: I’m all about the Dueling Pianos.

It turns out that Geoff Smith the Dueling Pianist who runs the joint, (the gentleman that you see above with that wonderful beatific expression on his face), had spent some time off the Shankill working with Habitat for Humanity! So yes of course it is a small world after all - and further proof to me that once you’ve been to Belfast it’ll follow you forever.

Anyhew, I had a lovely evening chatting with Dave about the various scenes here in Nashville - expect to hear him on the Show soon, and if you’re ever in Nashville and don’t know what to do - I’m tellin’ ya you could do a lot worse than go to the Big Bang Bar on Broadway.

They’ve got Dueling Pianos!

(p.s. Below is another pic I took last night - I’ve noticed something in the photo - an anomaly that’s very strange, dare I say it - spooky. First one to figure out what it is and let us know gets some sort of Prize).

  1. What! Matthew Ebel’s (left piano) left arm is missing in the reflection behind him! That’s crazy weird. What do I win? A Littlest Hobo DVD set?

Awesome meeting you too man. Looking forward to following your continued adventures in Nashvegas.

    Speak soon.
    Cheers,
    Dave

  2. I think his left arm is there. It is his right arm that is on some sort of time-delay.

    What do I win?

I hear The Big Bang is a lot of fun. I haven’t been there yet.

Next on my list for you … Adam Franklin (Swervedriver) in-store at Grimey’s. 7PM Friday.

  3. That photo is messing with my mind.

Yes, both arms are visible (the left one just barely).

The difference is he is in a totally different position than his reflection. The other piano player is perfectly in synch with his reflection. Is there a parallel universe back there? what is going on?????

  4. Someone needs to get those mirrors hung right!

You also seem to be missing from the photo … must have just got the angle right to disappear from the shot.

  5. the entire thing is freaky… there’s a whole audience in the reflection, while the 2 girls we can see in the foreground disappear in the mirror… coupled with the weirdy arm thing, I tell ya, I am SPOOKED.

  6. It’s eeeeeeeeeerie!

  7. […] ear to ear. There have been some great blog posts about it from Dave Delaney and one also on Letter To America. Check them […]

Those are twin brothers through the windows at the back. The boys on the left obviously haven’t been putting in enough practice and, sadly, have let themselves down in the choreography stakes. I’ve seen them so many times and they always do a great job, so give them a break. Geoff and his twin Armitage on the right are symmetry itself as usual. I look forward to seeing them on St Patrick’s night 2008 in Dublin’s Hall of Mirrors. Now that will be something to see and see and see and see….

  10. At last, someone’s cracked it!
